The famous green colouring that is orange
This week I had some nice ideas for my next desserts. In particular I’d like to use some of the pistachio paste I recently made to make some pistachio macarons.
In order to make them, I knew I needed a green powdered food colouring. So voilà…
Hey… wait a second! It’s orange! I wanted a green one! :-O
Nah, don’t worry, it’s normal: this colouring is apparently sooo concentrated that it looks orange, but it becomes green as soon as it gets in contact with water (I’ve already tested it, of course!).
Each colouring is identified by the letter E followed by a three-digit number starting with 1. In particular, this powder is simply made of the yellow (E102) and blue (E133) colourings. Can’t wait to try it! 🙂
